Debora Henderson - Dallas Music Academy

Deborah Henderson

Instructor & ASSISTANT MANAGER
Piano, Guitar, Voice.

Deborah Henderson recently relocated to Dallas from the Central Coast of California, where she owned and operated her own music studio, personally offering private piano, guitar and voice lessons to 35 students a week.

From 2009-2012 she also taught music and guitar in the classroom at a public charter school for grades K-6. Deborah has experience leading worship teams and directing both youth and adult choirs. She has produced and directed Christmas productions involving over 200 performers. Deborah began learning music from private instruction at the age of 9. She attended a performing art-focused high school where for four years she received daily private piano instruction and also daily music theory classes. Deborah has been teaching music lessons since she was 15 years old, when her own piano teacher asked Deborah to instruct her overflow students.

Deborah has taught consistently since then for the past 25 years and has experience with every age and ability. She loves to make sure her students have a full understanding of how music theory unites all styles of music together on the piano. Beethoven is her favorite classical composer.

At the college level Deborah studied Audio Engineering for the recording studio and live sound at the University of Missouri-Kansas City.

Deborah applied her theory learning to guitar and is mostly self-taught. She enjoys giving a thorough understanding to guitar students, including how to read tab/pentatonic scales (for lead guitar), staff (for classical guitar) and chords (for rhythm guitar).

Deborah has private training and experience teaching Speech Level Singing – a great method for modern pop/rock-styled vocals. She can offer vocal workouts and teach you how to work with an accompanist for auditions or live performance. Deborah has coached several young emerging country/pop artists and manages her own son who is a touring pop artist.
